Respuesta Estudiantil was a student's movement self-styled social-patriotic or national-revolutionary and "the biggest patriotic youth organization in Spain". Of clear ultra-rightist, if not neo-Nazi orientation, RE maintained a fierce rivalry with the Liga Joven, the youth branch of the Movimiento Social Republicano (MSR).
On 30 December 2014, five militants of Respuesta Estudiantil attacked
the building "occupied" in borough Tetuán, Madrid, by members of Hogar Social Ramiro Ledesma, a splinter of the MSR and Liga Joven, and
attempted to set it into fire.
The next day, the direction of RE apologized in a press release and
announced the disbanding of the movement, in Burgos (seat) and in the rest of Spain.

The emblem of RE was made of a yellow arrow saltire placed on a black
background and surrounded by a yellow ring. The similarity of the arrow saltire with the arrow cross used by the Hungarian fascist party is probably not a mere coincidence.

Flags used by RE in Jaén on 24 October 2013 (photo, photo; video) displayed a segmented ring, composed of eight segments, four smaller at the top and the bottom occupying each about one-twelfth of the circumference and four larger in between occupying each about one-sixth. One of the flags had the emblem in gold on black field and the other one displayed it in white on a purple field.
